The Neighborhood Garden Club of Gaithersburg/ Washington Grove was organized in 1931, and has enjoyed more than 93 years of continuous existence.
Mission Statement

The object of this club is to stimulate knowledge and love of gardening, to increase knowledge and awareness of the natural world, and to encourage civic beautification.
Club Projects:

4-H Students: Every spring, the club provides an annual instructional program. Our goal is to encourage and develop interest in gardening for young people. Also, careful consideration is given to the subject matter chosen so as to encourage students to strive for one of the club's awards at the Montgomery County Fair.

Memory Garden: With the help of the City of Gaithersburg, in May 2012, the Garden Club​ established and dedicated a memorial garden at Bohrer Park which the club now maintains by planting, weeding, and watering during the growing season. It includes a grove of trees around the garden.

Hospice Caring House: The Club maintains the flower containers at Hospice Caring with the planting of flowers in May and watering and weeding during the summer months. This building is also in Bohrer Park.

Wilson Healthcare Center: At the August meeting, members of the club create small floral arrangements for patients residing in the Wilson Health Care Center. When possible, club members gardens use home grown flowers and greenery.

Montgomery County Fair: Held in August, the club provides awards in senior and junior categories to ten   4-H recipients for best in these five entries: Live Flowers-Kitchen Arrangement, Dish Garden, Centerpiece for Luncheon Table, Best Zinnia, and Best Dahlia.

Community Buildings: At the December meeting, cut greens from members' gardens, festive ribbons, bows, etc., are used to create holiday floral arrangements and wreaths for the Casey Community Center, Gaithersburg City Hall, Hospice Caring, Inc. in Gaithersburg,  McCathran Hall in Washington Grove.
